Restaurants that we recommend:
The Inn at Ocean Village -
Our resort's own 4-star ocean view restaurant, has an earlybird special some evenings (4:30-6:00pm), very good food and exceptional service. On Tuesdays they usually have Big Band Night (days may vary.) Restaurant is open to the public, so even if you're not a guest at Ocean Village you can stop and see the resort for yourself. Sunday - Champagne Brunch, Wednesdays - Grand Seafood Buffet. Closed on Mondays. Note: The ownership of this restaurant recently changed hands after being down for an extended period of times. Most of what is written above applies to the previous owners. We haven't yet tried this restaurant under the new ownership.Bluewater Ocean Grill -
Where Theo Thudpuckers used to be located. We tried it once and liked it. Food with a Caribbean or Jamaican flair to it. Try the chicken wings, good but very different. Close to the Jetty on Seaway Drive. Very casual.Mangrove Matties -
Probably the nicest restaurant on the north end of South Hutchinson Island. A little on the expensive side, but the food service and atmosphere were excellent. On Seaway Drive close to the Days Inn. (772)465-1044Ocean Grill -
Oceanview restaurant in Vero Beach we found one day by accident. Excellent decor, food and service. This place is frequented by the wealthy of Vero Beach so don't go there too casual. Surprisingly, the prices are about average. Drive out to US1 and go north 2 stoplights. Turn right and drive a total of about 13 miles up Route A1A on N. Hutchinson Island. Make a right onto Beachland Ave. Go about 3 blocks all the way to the beach.Ramp Raw Bar -
Recently relocated to the Seaway Market Plaza on Seaway Drive. Same great menu, same great food. Very good shrimp and seafood dishes. Reasonable prices. Alot to eat for the money. Go casual. No credit cards accepted. (772)468-0760Captain's Galley -
Located on the right hand side at the first stoplight when you come off the bridge to the mainland. Two very good dishes are the Whole Maine Lobster and the Florida Fried Lobster which are in the $10-$13 range. Early bird dinners $1.00 off. This restaurant is "seasonal" at dinner time. During certain times of the year it is only open for breakfast and lunch. Voted "Best Breakfasts in Town" 2 years in a row. (772)466-8495Dolphin Bar and Shrimp House -
This restaurant was previously named Frances Langford's and was at one time owned by the well known actress. Good selection of seafood dishes with a nice view of the lagoon at Jensen Beach. Go 12 or 13 miles south on A1A and make a right turn at the first stoplight onto the Jensen Beach Causeway. At the other end of the causeway you will encounter a "round-a-bout." Make 3/4 of a full turn in the roundabout and head south and you will be on Route 707. Follow Route 707 South for about 3 miles and you will come to a fork in the road. Make a left at the fork (leaving Route 707) and travel about 2 more miles and the restaurant will be on your left. (772)781-5136Chuck's Seafood -
A nice casual place to eat. Very good fried shrimp at this restaurant. Located on Seaway Drive on the right just before you get to the bridge. Nice view of Fort Pierce Inlet. (772)461-9484High Tide Beach Grill (formerly Shuckers) -
Excellent seaside restaurant where you can eat on an outdoor patio right next to the beach. Good food, not that expensive. Also a popular nightclub. Located on ocean side of Route A1A 2 miles north of the Jensen Beach Causeway. Same basic food and service. We ate here once since they reopened under the new name. Every bit as good as Shuckers used to be.Lobster Shanty -
Excellent seafood dishes of all types. Go 12 or 13 miles south on A1A and make a right onto the Jensen Beach Causeway. At the other end of the causeway you'll come to a rotary or "round-a-bout." Exit that round-a-bout at 9:00 as if you were making a normal left hand turn and follow Route 707 for about 5 to 7 miles. You'll eventually see a large sign for the restaurant on your left. They have an earlybird menu if seated by 6:00 pm. (772)334-6400Casa Bella -
Excellent Italian/Seafood restaurant in Stuart just off US1. Located just south of the new Roosevelt Bridge in Stuart behind the Dos Amigos Mexican Restaurant on the right hand side of US1 going south. (772)223-0077Harbortown Fish House -
A touch of Key West. Good seafood dishes, excellent view, casual waterfront dining, earlybird specials. Wednesday to Sunday - live entertainment. Get on US1 North from Seaway Drive. Go 2 stoplights north and make a right turn onto Route A1A. Immediately after you cross over the railroad tracks you'll come to the entrance to Harbortown Marina on your right. (772)466-8732Archie's Seabreeze -
Fort Pierce's friendliest watering hole. Don't think of it as just a biker bar if you happen to see a few Harley's parked out front. This place has been an institution on South Beach since about 1947 and it has quite a nice menu with specials just about every night of the week. Live entertainment usually 3 or 4 nights a week. Voted the "best burgers" in Fort Pierce for many years now and you may go extremely casual. "no shoes, no shirt, no problem!" (772)461-3352Goodfellows Pizza -
A very good pizza place right next to the Cumberland Farms convenience store on Seaway Drive. They deliver. (Don't forget to call the guard gate if you have them deliver.) (772)460-6022
