This is Bathtub Beach/Reef which is about a 25 minute drive south of Ocean Village. It's a natural coral reef that shelters the beach during low tide and is a great place to snorkel and a safe place to take smaller children to swim. They call it Bathtub Beach because the water is as clear as the water in your bathtub. During high tide however, this is just like any other beach and the reef is not visible. You can find the tidal times in the weather section of the daily newspaper, The Fort Pierce Tribune. To get to Bathtub Beach from Ocean Village travel about 17 miles south on Rt A1A. Make a left turn at the 1st stoplight. You will then be on MacArthur Blvd. Travel thru the Indian River Plantation Resort and go about 2 miles beyond and Bathtub Reef will be on your left. It's a public park and is free to the public.
